Tanzanian Building Collapses, Death Toll Unclear

 

A 12-story building under construction in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania collapsed on Friday.

Officials of Dar es Salaam have given two different reports about the number of deaths in the collapse.
A senior police officer released a report saying that 15 people died in the collapse.

However, the mayor of central Dar es Salaam later said that only two people were killed and there 17 survivors.

The building that collapsed was nearing completion and did not have any tenants.

The Tanzanian Red Cross says that it will continue its rescue effort through the rest of the night.
