Over the course of five days, at least 1,600 students have been expelled from taking an exam for cheating.

The students were found cheating last week while taking Bihar, India's Class 10 Board Exams.

Results from the exam can help determine which university a student will be able to attend for higher education.

Officials of the Bihar School Examination Board said on Monday that in addition to the cheating students, more than 100 parents have been arrested for helping their students cheat.

BBC News reports that the cheating students could be barred from taking the exam for up to three years.
