Khakimov, now referred to as Sheikh Abdullah, was recently found practicing herbal healing and living among the people in the Herat province in western Afghanistan.

Abdullah was involved in the 1980 Soviet invasion and had
suffered a wound to the head.
The local people rescued the wounded soldier and allowed him to live among them.

for other MIA soldiers that went missing during the invasion.
