More than 400 patients were screened for HIV and hepatitis B and C on Saturday in response to a letter they received about poor hygiene practices by an Oklahoma dentist.

Local health officials mailed out letters as early as Friday to about 7,000 patients of Dr. W. Scott Harrington in regards to the poor practices.

Inspectors found problems at the doctor’s clinics such as rusty tools, expired drugs, and used needles that had been reused in drug vials.

New York Daily News reports that Harrington gave up his license, closed his offices, and has a hearing in April that could lead to his license being permanently revoked.
