The armistice between North and South Korea was invalidated by the North on Monday.

The armistice was a truce between the two waring countries and was established in 1953.

North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun newspaper released an article Monday saying that its country is mobilizing for combat.

Direct phone communications have been severed between the North and South.

CBS reports that North Korea has several interests, including a formal peace treaty, security guarantees, and the removal of more than 28,000 U.S. troops from South Korea.
