Science News: More Than 78,000 Apply for One-Way-Trip to Mars

Dutch non-profit organization Mars One has taken more than 78,000 applications for a one-way-trip to Mars.

The trip to the Red Planet would be in 2023 and Mars One is looking for a crew of about four people to go on the journey and colonize the planet.

Due to the physiological changes the body would endure under the different gravity conditions, those who leave couldn’t come back to Earth.

According to the non-profit company, this trip would involve the “whole world as the audience of an interactive, televised broadcast…”

People have submitted videos to the organization's website and have come from places like Spain, the United States, and Mexico.
