French Soldier Stabbed in Throat While on Duty

A French soldier was on patrol in a busy commercial district outside Paris on Saturday when he was stabbed in the throat.

French President Francois Hollande said the person who stabbed the soldier has yet to be identified and he soldier is still alive.

France's Defense Minister says the motive behind the stabbing was to kill the soldier because he was a soldier.

Local authorities are screening surveillance that could aid with their investigation.
