Google is launching internet-providing antennas into the
stratosphere via balloons in order to get Internet to remote areas on the
planet.
The eighteen-month project was kept a secret and Google plans
to announce it has 30 of the internet balloons above New Zealand.
50 local New Zealanders signed up for the project to test
the connection.
Charles Nimmo was the first person to test the internet via
balloons and received it for 15 minutes until the balloon sailed past.
The balloon is able to get power from solar panels that hang
below and charge for four hours and can be used for a day.
