Colorado Counties Show Interest in Seceding from State

Counties in northern Colorado have shown interest in seceding from the state.

CBS reports that the counties are upset about new agricultural and energy bills recently signed into law.

Weld, Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Washington, Yuma, and Kit Carson are the counties involved.

Weld County Commissioner Sean Conway is spearheading the call for the counties to form a new state.

He told local media:

I have never seen a legislative session like this. They ignore us. They don’t listen to us. It started with the gun control bills and came to a head this week with S.B. 252 being signed.

The U.S. Constitution requires “North Colorado”, as the newly formed state would be called, to get approval from legislatures in order to be created.
