Israel Airstrike Kills Head of Hamas Military


An Israeli air strike has killed the head of the military sector of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

Ahmed Said Khalil al-Jabari was taken down during the air strikes that hit the Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

The BBC reports that al-Jabari was in a car along with another Hamas official when the car was hit, killing them both.

This air strike was part of an operation headed by the Israeli against Hamas groups that control the Gaza Strip.

It was reported by the Washington Post that a Hamas spokesman said that it is time to declare war.

The Associated Press reports that the Israeli military has said that this event is just the beginning of what they call Operation: Pillar of Defense.

So far 7 other people have been confirmed dead as a result of the airstrike as well as 30 wounded people.
