U.S. to Provide Turkey with Missiles and 400 Troops

In order to protect Turkey from a possible Syrian missile attack, the U.S will send 400 reinforcement troops and missiles to Turkey.

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta signed an order to send the reinforcements to Turkey and will have them stationed along the border.

This deployment of troops and missiles comes as a part of a NATO effort to help protect Turkey from Syria.

CBS Radio News reported that Panetta spoke of intelligence that gave reason to believe that Syria is considering using chemical weapons.

Germany and the Netherlands have previously agreed to provide their troops as well in order to aid NATO’s effort.

As of right now, Panetta has not indicated when the U.S. reinforcements would be sent to Turkey and how long they would reside.
