Senior University of Virginia student Casey Schulman died while on a snorkeling
expedition off the coast of Dominica.
The Associated Press reported that Casey and other students had hired a local boat owner to take them to the beach.
While at the beach they were swimming in the waters when the boat’s owner was going in reverse and the propellers struck Casey.
She was taken to a local hospital where she died on arrival.
Casey was a part of the Semester at Sea program through the university; however the snorkeling was not part of the program.
