In a display of disapproval of censorship, hundreds of
supporters of a strike at a newspaper in China gathered on Monday to protest.
These supporters join the journalists of the Southern Weekly
newspaper displaying signs and placards that call for press freedom.
A call of reform was made in a New Year message by the
Weekly but was changed by the provincial propaganda department.
Workers at the Weekly have since called for the resignation of
the official at the provincial propaganda department that is accused of
changing the message.
