1,000 Burglaries: Hermit Admits to Thefts Over the Years

Christopher Knight, 47 (Top), Camp near Rome, Main (Bottom)

A man that was arrested last week admitted on Wednesday to more than 1,000 burglaries he committed while living as a hermit over the years.

After 27-years of living as a hermit, 47-year-old Christopher Knight was caught living in his camp in the woods near Rome, Maine.

Knight is reported to have survived by stealing essential materials from nearby camp areas.

A spokesman for the Main State Police reports that with the exception of the suspect’s glasses, everything at the campsite was stolen.

Knight, locally known as the North Pond Hermit, is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.
