Mars Radiation is Found Sustainable for Astronauts

Recent findings by NASA’s Curiosity rover show that radiation levels on Mars could be survivable by astronauts.

Curiosity’s Radiation Assessment Detector (RAD) shows that an astronaut would be exposed to about 0.7 millisieverts per day on the red planet’s surface.

A sievert is the unit of measurement for radiation.

Should a 960 day round-trip mission to Mars become a reality, an astronaut would be exposed to about 1.1 sieverts of radiation.
