Egypt President Morsi Removes Self-Given Powers

In light of the political uproar, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has removed some of the powers he gave to himself.

One of those powers includes the ability to create laws and decisions without the need for judicial review.

President Morsi says that although he has removed his powers, the government’s drafted constitution will not be changed for the December 15th referendum.

Egyptian authorities have reported that at least six people have been killed due to recent violence.

President Morsi said that his self-proclaimed powers were only to be temporary.

However many Egyptians have compared President Morsi’s act to be similar to those of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.
