Internet freedom activist Aaron Swartz was found dead in his
New York apartment on Friday.
A statement was made by Swartz’s family and partner that
said that the activist had hanged himself.
Swartz’s attorney, Elliot Peters, confirmed the death and
was to represent Swartz at a federal trial in February.
Charges were brought against Swartz in regards to his
alleged hacking of the online academic archive JSTOR to which he pleaded not guilty.
A funeral will be held for Swartz on Tuesday in Highland
Park, Illinois.
Swartz’s family says that anyone wanting to make donations in
his name can do so by going to rememberaaronsw.com
